Stenson Global helps leadership teams make AI work in practice. I work with management teams on the processes and functions where AI can help, and I provide Independent Decision Assessment to boards and investors before significant AI commitments.
Stenson Global FZ-LLC is my advisory practice. I am based in Vientiane, Laos, and work across the region. The work draws on more than 25 years of leading complex operations in the private, humanitarian and development sectors.
The principles behind the practice
The practice is built on a small number of working principles, drawn from my operational experience leading governance and organizational decisions in regulated, international environments.
Decisions should outlast the advice
Executive decisions should remain useful after the engagement ends. A decision is only as defensible as the evidence behind it, the implications it carries, and the accountability for acting on it. The role of an advisor is to leave that basis in place, not to become a permanent part of the operation.
Governance and pace are not opposites
Governance and operational effectiveness are not opposites. Organizations in regulated environments are often told to choose between moving quickly and staying accountable. The more useful question is whether the evidence, governance and decision structure are sufficient to support the decision without compromising accountability.
Evidence matters more than activity
A pilot, a use case, or a deployed tool is not, on its own, evidence that a significant decision is justified. What matters is whether the organization has sufficient evidence to understand what AI is changing, what it means operationally, and what decision should follow.
Redesign the work, not just the tools
AI creates value when the work around it changes: who does what, which decisions people keep, and which controls apply. Adding a tool to an unchanged process mostly adds cost. The results come from redesigning the work.
