Leadership & Operations Advisory - Laos
Helping organizations in Laos develop managers, retain capable people, and get more from the teams they have.
Bad strategy is not the primary reason organizations struggle.
More often, the difficulty lies in the gap between what leaders decide and what actually happens in the operation: in the handoffs, in who owns what, in who takes responsibility for decisions, and in how scarce people's time and capability are used.
My career has largely been spent in that gap, usually where resources were tight, experienced people were scarce, and the organization still had to deliver.
How I can help.
Develop Supervisors and Managers
First-line managers have a direct influence on whether good people stay and whether work gets done well.
I provide practical development for supervisors and managers, combining focused workshops with follow-up coaching on real issues from their own teams.
Capacity building isn't a training event. It's an operational process.
Retain capable people when you can't compete on pay
Pay matters, but it is rarely the only factor in whether people stay.
People leave when they can't see a future.
I help organizations strengthen what they control: how new staff are supported, how progression is made visible, and whether managers know how to have meaningful development conversations.
Get more from the team you have
When hiring more people isn't the answer, the first question is where your best people's time actually goes.
I work with leadership teams to find the real bottlenecks and decide what can be stopped, simplified, standardized, delegated or supported with technology, and who needs to own each change.
Adopt AI where it genuinely helps
I approach AI as an operations question, not a technology question.
First understand the process. Then decide where technology can add capacity, where human judgement needs to stay, and how quality and accountability will be maintained.
The principle is simple: process first, technology second. I've been through this before with enterprise systems, and a new tool can't make up for an unclear process or poorly defined responsibilities.
Experience
Penbrothers Inc., Manila, Philippines: Chief Operating Officer
I was responsible for a large team of predominantly young professionals in their early twenties. Many correctly had high expectations, both in terms of salary and career progression. When we couldn't compete on salary, a clear development plan that I personally committed to supporting them with made a huge difference in reducing attrition and keeping our best people.
International Organization for Migration: 15 years
Rome → Manila
Joined the international team implementing SAP across the organization, including specification, testing and rollout of its reporting capability.
Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Finance officer in a demanding operating environment, building accountability and capability by working one-to-one with local colleagues.
South Sudan
Helped establish the new mission following independence and built the oversight function for a complex multi-donor, multi-project operation. When conflict broke out, I was one of six international staff who stayed to keep critical operations running.
Applying AI to the Way Work Gets Done
In March 2026 I completed Applied Agentic AI for Organizational Transformation at MIT Professional Education.
It shapes how I approach AI adoption with clients: process first, technology second, with human judgement and accountability kept in place.
Executive and career coaching
I am an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach (PCC).
As a consultant to the Asian Development Bank, contracted through its Consultant Management System, I delivered training for the Bank's Expatriate Spouse Career Program. I have also provided career coaching for UN professionals, alongside leadership and executive coaching in the private and public sectors.
Working together
I'm based in Vientiane, Laos.
Most engagements start with a conversation about a specific problem, for example: managers who aren't yet ready for the responsibilities they've been given, difficulty keeping capable people, or a process that depends too heavily on one person. From there, we agree a practical scope and clear outcomes.
